At Barefoot College, our Rights & Entitlements Program team recently facilitated powerful women’s meetings in Silora and Jawaja blocks.
These sessions introduced rural women to their legal rights and government schemes — from pensions and ration to drinking water, electricity, livelihood, and MGNREGA (NREGA) opportunities.
What makes this special?
These women didn’t just listen — they organized.
Village-level women’s groups have now been formed, becoming active platforms where women discuss local issues and take collective action.
Many groups have already started applying for NREGA work, demanding electricity supply, and pushing for access to safe drinking water — proving the power of informed communities.
